Police investigating wounding at Kirra

A 20-year-old man is in police custody after the wounding of a 34-year-old woman at Kirra in the early hours of this morning.

Around 5.20am the woman was walking on the beach side when near the intersection of Marine Parade and Powell Crescent an unknown man has walked up to the woman and attempted to grab her.

The woman resisted at which point she sustained a 6cm laceration to her left forearm.

The man fled the scene.

The woman was transported to Robina Hospital for treatment to a non-life threatening injury to her forearm.

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area around the tine of the incident is asked to call police.

Investigations are ongoing.
