A man has been shot by police this afternoon in Tolga, in the Atherton Tablelands.
Emergency services were called to bushland on Northey Road shortly after 1pm following reports of a man armed with a bladed object.
During the incident, the man approached an officer whilst armed.
The man was shot once in the abdomen and immediate first aid was provided.
He has been flown to Cairns Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
This matter is under investigation by Ethical Standards Command with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
