Police lay arson charges at Roma, QLD

Detectives from Roma Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a 39-year-old man in relation to the alleged arson of a chapel in Roma last month.

At approximately 1am on July 26, emergency services responded to the Arthur Street building which was engulfed in flames.

The fire caused substantial damage to the premises.

Luckily, no one was inside the premises and there were no injuries as a result of the incident.

Following extensive investigations, police executed a search warrant at a Wright Street property on August 14 where they located and arrested a 39-year-old Roma man.

He has been charged with one count each of arson, endanger property by fire and stealing.

He is expected to appear at Roma Magistrates Court on August 29.
