Police lay charges after Armadale evade

Police have charged a man following an extended follow through the southern suburbs of Melbourne yesterday.

It’s alleged police spotted a Toyota Kluger travelling on Blackburn Road, Blackburn, with suspected cloned plates, on Monday 2 October about 1.50pm.

Police attempted to intercept the car, but it took off travelling at a fast rate of speed.

With Air Wing assisting, officers followed the vehicle through Caulfield and Malvern before stop sticks were successfully deployed on William Street, Armadale, where the vehicle came to a stop.

The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old Frankston man, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with multiple offences including reckless conduct endanger life, prohibited person possess imitation firearm, dangerous driving whilst being pursued by police.

He has been remanded to appear in Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 16 October.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 41-year-old man, fled the vehicle on foot but was arrested nearby and has been released pending further enquiries.
