Police lay charges – Aggravated assault – Palmerston 13 July

Northern Territory Police have charged two youths after multiple assaults in Palmerston yesterday.

At 1:20pm, police received reports two males, aged 13 and 16, were causing disturbances at a shopping centre on Temple Terrace, Palmerston. Security officers intervened with both youths allegedly spitting on security officers, with one officer allegedly assaulted in the altercation.

Upon police arrival, one of the youths allegedly spat at police before both were arrested and conveyed to Palmerston Police Station.

Detectives from Strike Force Trident have since charged the 13-year-old with:

  • 1 x Disorderly behaviour
  • 2 x Aggravated assault
  • 1 x Assault police
  • 1 x Serious breach bail

The 16-year-old was charged with:

  • 1 x Disorderly behaviour
  • 3 x Aggravated assault
  • 1 x Threats to kill

Both were bailed to appear in court today.
