Northern Territory Police have issued a summons to appear to a 20-year-old male following an incident in Gray on 8 March 2022.
The summons has been issued for:
· Going armed in public
· Assault police
· Conduct endangering life
Two NT Police members were responding to an unrelated incident when they were confronted by the man who was armed with a spear.
The man raised the spear at one of the officers despite repeated warnings.
One officer discharged his firearm, shooting the male.
The male was taken to hospital in a critical condition and has since recovered.
NT Police declared a critical incident with Assistant Commissioner Michael White APM leading the investigation.
The Northern Territory Police Association have been advised throughout the investigation.
The Office of the NT Independent Commissioner Against Corruption and the NT Ombudsman were advised for independent oversight.
As the matter is now before the court there will be no further comment.
