Police lay charges over property offences and domestic violence in Darwin

Northern Territory Police have charged a man for property and domestic violence offences in Darwin.

Strike Force Trident along with Strike Force Lyra have been investigating a number of incidents involving a 40-year-old man in Darwin.

On 8 of October 2022, the man was allegedly involved in an assault on his former partner in Alawa, where he allegedly used a weapon to damage property before fleeing the scene.

On 12 of October 2022, the man, in the company of other unknown offenders, was allegedly involved in an unlawful entry at a residence in Stuart Park where a number of small items and a large quantity of money was stolen. The offenders allegedly used a stolen unlocked laptop to transfer the money between bank accounts.

Detectives arrested the man yesterday and he has since been charged with:

  • 1 x Aggravated assault
  • 2 x Damage property
  • 1 x Possess less than trafficable schedule 2 dangerous drug
  • 1 x Possess stolen property
  • 1 x Drive unlicensed
  • 1 x Fail to report crash
  • 2 x Breach domestic violence order

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said “Investigations remain ongoing. Strike Force Trident and Lyra have worked exceptionally well together to bring this individual before the courts.
