A man has been charged over a serious crash in Chatswood earlier this year.
About 7.50pm on Thursday 27 June 2019, police attended the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Oliver Road following reports a pedestrian was seriously injured.
It appears the 55-year-old man from Chatswood was hit by a Toyota Camry travelling south on the Pacific Highway while crossing the road at a set of traffic lights with his wife and dog.
The man sustained spinal and head injuries and was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
The 57-year-old woman from Chatswood received minor injuries after falling during the incident.
The dog died at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota Camry, a 76-year-old man from Swansea Heads, was uninjured and was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
A crime scene was established and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
On Saturday 5 October 2019, a 76-year-old man from Swansea Heads attended Hornsby Police Station to assist police with inquiries.
Yesterday (Sunday 6 October 2019), a Future Court Attendance Notice was served, and the Swansea Heads man was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving occasion grievous bodily harm, and cause bodily harm by misconduct.
He is due to appear at Hornsby Local Court on Thursday 5 December 2019.
His licence was also suspended.
