Police lay charges – Serious harm in Darwin

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 33-year-old man for the serious assault of a 22-year-old man in Darwin.

Around 1:00am on Saturday 8 August 2020, the 33-year-old allegedly punched the 22-year-old, immediately rendering him unconscious on Mitchell Street. The 33-year-old left the scene. The victim was located by witnesses who assisted him into a taxi. He attended Royal Darwin Hospital the following day and received treatment for serious injuries.

On Tuesday 11 August 2020, the 33-year-old was arrested by detectives from the Serious Crime Unit and charged with unlawfully cause serious harm.

He was bailed to appear before Darwin Local Court on Tuesday 8 September 2020.
