Police lay charges – Stealing – Weddell

A man who is alleged to have stolen a helicopter has been arrested by Northern Territory Police today.

In June 2021, a 50-year-old man is alleged to have stolen a Robinson Helicopter R22 from an airfield in Weddell after paying a deposit and failing to return the aircraft.

It is further alleged the man refused to pay the outstanding amount on the aircraft.

Detectives from the Northern Investigations Section attended a property in Bradshaw today and seized the stolen helicopter.

The man was arrested and charged with one count of stealing, and is expected to face court at a later date.

Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Lawson said, “Police would like to thank Livestock Biosecurity for their assistance in this investigation, along with the members of the public who provided vital information in regards to the location of the helicopter.”
