Three teenage boys have been charged following the robbery of a fast-food store in Ipswich CBD last night, 29 July.
Police will allege at approximately 7.30pm, two 15-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy attended the business on Brisbane Street, and struck a 24-year-old male employee in the face after receiving their food order.
It will be further alleged when the group left the store they damaged a door at the front entrance.
The male employee received minor injuries.
Police responded and located the three boys after they were allegedly chased on foot to a nearby train station, where they were arrested.
A 15-year-old Caboolture boy has been charged with one count each of enter premises and commit, robbery, and unlawful possession of stolen property.
A 15-year-old Caboolture South boy has been charged with one count each of enter premises with intent to commit, robbery, unlawful possession of stolen property, wilful damage and obstruct police.
A 16-year-old Narangba boy has been charged with one count each of enter premises with intent to commit, robbery, and wilful damage.
All three are due to appear before the Ipswich Children’s Court today, 30 July.
Operation Yankee Forge is a six-month, district-led, statewide initiative targeting high-harm and high-volume offences, including unlawful use of motor vehicles, unlawful entry and robbery.
The operation will enhance policing activities across Queensland to reduce victim numbers and strengthen community safety.
Police regions, supported by specialist squads, will undertake coordinated disruption activities across the state. Police will target high-harm offenders and work closely with partner agencies to ensure offenders are held accountable. With a strong focus on crime prevention, police will be highly visible as they prevent, disrupt and investigate offending, with particular emphasis on unlawful use, robbery and unlawful entry.
The operation will be locally led and centrally coordinated, leveraging the knowledge and experience of officers who know their communities best.
