Police lay robbery charges at Moranbah

Police have charged a man following the alleged robbery of a service station in Moranbah on Saturday night (July 31).

It will be alleged around 8.30pm the man entered the Mills Avenue business before he approached the front counter and demanded money. He allegedly ran from the location a short time later with a small quantity of money.

It will be further alleged around 1am on Sunday morning the man became involved in a physical altercation with a resident outside an Archer Drive address. A 26-year-old man was treated for facial injuries.

The 26-year-old Moranbah man was taken into custody around 4am on Sunday (August 1) and charged with one count each of enter premises with intent, robbery, deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He was denied bail and is due to appear in Moranbah Magistrates Court today.
