Police locate cannabis grow house and firearm in Taylors Lakes incidents

A series of events has led police to uncover a cannabis grow house and arrest a man for possessing a firearm in Taylors Lakes overnight.

Police were initially called to a Cardigan Crescent residence after a neighbour heard a burglary in progress about 12.20am on Wednesday, 5 April.

The offenders had fled before police arrived but attending officers located what appeared to be remnants of cannabis plants in the driveway of the property.

Police entered the premises and discovered a hydroponic cannabis set up and four rooms full of plants.

A fifth room appeared to have been cleared-out by the offenders.

In a turn of events, officers guarding the scene noticed a grey Ford Focus driving slowly passed the property about 1.45am.

Checks revealed the vehicle was believed to have been connected to a recent incident in Sunbury where a member of the public sighted a man in possession of a firearm.

A nearby unit pulled over the car and officers discovered a firearm inside the vehicle.

A 34-year-old Cairnlea man was arrested at the scene in relation to the firearm and is assisting investigators with their enquiries.

Investigations in relation to the grow house remain ongoing, anyone with information that could assist police with their enquiries is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.auExternal Link
