Police looking to fade out graffiti vandals

Police are putting vandals on notice with a fresh appeal to identify seven people in relation to graffiti incidents across Melbourne since late February.

The appeal comes as part of Operation Fade – which sees a team of dedicated uniform officers targeting graffiti and criminal damage in Melbourne.

Police are investigating five incidents of graffiti since late February, including:

• A male spray painting a wall in Elizabeth Street at approximately 11.40pm on 17 March, before walking off towards Flinders Street.

• A male graffitiing a set of double doors on Spencer Street at approximately 2.55pm on 23 March.

• On 22 January, a male was seen on Swanston Street walking a dog before graffitiing an electrical utility door and walking off towards La Trobe Street.

• At approximately 9.40pm on 4 March, police have been told a female sprayed graffiti on the Lady Janet Rotunda in Southbank, along with surrounding trees, pavement and a toilet block.

• At about 3am on 23 February four males were seen graffitiing a laneway near RMIT campus on Swanston Street before heading towards A/Beckett Street. One of the males was then seen spraying a CCTV camera.

Police have released images of people they believe can assist with their enquiries into these incidents.
