Police make arrest after cyber attacks

Detectives from the Victoria Police E-Crime Squad and Australian Federal Police Cyber Crime Operations Melbourne have arrested a man following an investigation into alleged Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.

The alleged DDoS attacks are believed to have been made against a telecommunications business and a large shopping complex between June and October this year.

Investigators arrested a 34-year-old in Ringwood this morning in relation to the alleged incidents.

The Ringwood man remains in custody and is assisting police with their enquiries.

A Distributed Denial of Service attack is an online attack aimed at disrupting website or telephone systems by overwhelming them with traffic.
