Police make arrest after East Perth assault

Perth Detectives have arrested a 47-year-old woman after it is alleged she assaulted a woman last night, 6 January 2020.

Around 6.15pm, a 79-year-old frail woman was watering the garden in the communal garden area of an apartment complex on Goderich Street in East Perth when she was approached by the 47-year-old woman. It is alleged the woman shouted abuse at the victim before she struck the 79-year-old woman’s head with a beer bottle, causing a deep laceration behind her ear.

The victim fell to the ground and it is further alleged the 47-year-old woman punched her several times to the head and body. The victim was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital where she received medical treatment.

The 47-year-old woman of no fixed address is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, 7 January 2020 on the charges of:-

• Unlawful Assault with a Circumstance of Aggravation;

• Trespass; and

• Assault Public Officer.
