Police make arrest after Frankston firearms incident

Detectives from Frankston Crime Investigation Unit in collaboration with Maroondah Crime Investigation Unit have arrested a man and seized cash and drugs as part of an ongoing investigation this morning.

A 36-year-old man was arrested after police were called to a disturbance at an address in Canterbury Road, Ringwood about 2.15am.

The Croydon man will now be interviewed in relation to an incident in Frankston where an allegedly stolen vehicle was spotted by police on Foot Street, Frankston about 12.30am on 28 August.

Police later located the car at a residence on Oxford Street, Frankston where it’s alleged a quantity of drugs, a firearm and ammunition were located.

He is expected to be charged with 38 offences including:

• possess handgun,

• carry loaded handgun,

• carry loaded firearm populous place,

• ammunition offences,

• 2 counts of traffick a drug of dependence,

• possess traffickable quantity methyl-amphetamines,

• 2 counts of possess proceeds crime,

• 2 counts of reckless conduct,

• 2 counts of evade police, and

• breach CHO directions and other related offences.
