Police make arrest after theft of copper and tip truck

Police have arrested a man after a member of the public called Triple Zero (000) regarding a noise complaint in Prahran this morning.

The resident was concerned an angle grinder, which being used at a construction site on High Street about 3am, was causing too much noise.

Police attended and located a tip truck, believed to have been stolen from an address in Armadale last night.

A man was seen jumping a fence and officers took chase.

The area was cordoned off and with the assistance of the Airwing and Dog Squad, police arrested a 30-year-old Hillside man nearby.

It is alleged the man was in possession of an angle grinder and copper pipe at the time of his arrest.

Police will conduct further enquiries to determine if the man was allegedly attempting to steal copper piping from the worksite.

He remains in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
