Police make arrest over armed robbery at Ormeau

Police have arrested a man following the alleged armed robbery of an Ormeau convenience store this afternoon.

Around 3.25pm a man entered the Vaughan Road store where he threatened the female attendant with a knife and demanded cigarettes.

The man fled on foot with a carton of cigarettes. The attendant was not physically harmed.

Police attended and a short time later located a man nearby in possession of a knife and the stolen cigarettes.

A 28-year-old Goonellabah man was arrested and later charged with armed robbery, enter premises with intent and drug offences.

He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates court on December 16.
