Police make arrest over eastern suburbs pursuit, South Australia

A Salisbury Heights man is in custody following a short police pursuit in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs overnight.

Just after 2am on Sunday 2 May, Eastern District patrols attempted to stop a blue Mitsubishi Lancer on Frederick Road Maylands, but the male driver allegedly refused and vehicle was followed through back streets for about five minutes before the patrol terminated the pursuit on Magill Road.

Patrols searched the area and a short time later located the blue Lancer abandoned in Clara Street Norwood and the driver who is also the owner of the vehicle, in nearby Moulden Street.

When police approached the 43-year-old man he refused to provide his name and address despite being requested on several occasions, so he was arrested.

The Salisbury Heights man was charged with a raft of offences including driving drive dangerously to evade police, driving unlicensed, refuse name and address, resisting arrest and refuse a breath test.

The arrested man didn’t apply for police bail so he will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Police also towed the Lancer from the scene and impounded the vehicle for 28 days.
