Police make arrests over drug trafficking syndicate, South Australia

Detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch (SOCB) have charged four people after investigations into an alleged organised crime drug trafficking syndicate operating within Adelaide.

On Tuesday 2 April, after a complex multi-faceted investigation SOCB Detectives arrested four people from the Western Suburbs during Operation Globe and charged them with trafficking controlled drugs including methylamphetamine and fantasy.

It will be alleged that the four month investigation had strong links to organised crime with South Australia which was primarily operating out of a Glenelg address that was occupied by a 44-year-old man.

Over 70 SAPOL officers including SOCB Detectives and members from STAR Group were involved in the Operation which resulted in four arrests and seven premises searched. An amount of cash and drugs believed to be methylamphetamine were allegedly located and seized by police during the searches.

A 44-year-old man from Glenelg has been charged with 42 counts of trafficking in a controlled drug, a 45-year-old woman from Woodville was charged with 51 counts of trafficking in a controlled drug, a 33-year-old man from Glenelg North was charged with seven counts of trafficking in a controlled drug, and a 39-year-old from Bowden was charged with seven counts of trafficking in a controlled drug. They were all have been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide and Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today, Wednesday 3 April.
