Police make arrests – Ram raid – Berrimah

Northern Territory Police have arrested three people in relation to a ram raid in Berrimah this morning.

Sometime overnight, three offenders aged 18, 18 and 16-years-old allegedly stole three vehicles from Yarrawonga, Woolner and Cullen Bay.

At 5am, police received a report that the vehicles were involved in a ram raid at a business along the Stuart Highway in Berrimah.

It is alleged that the offenders entered the premises and stole a large variety of weapons including:

  • 10 x bows
  • 5 crossbows
  • 300 arrows
  • Multiple machetes and swords
  • Assorted hunting knives

Strike Force Trident, the Dog Operations Unit and local Police were deployed and two of the stolen vehicles were successfully spiked in Adelaide River, while the further outstanding vehicle was located abandoned in the Acacia Hills.

Two 18-year-old males were arrested without incident and currently remain in custody.

A 16-year-old was apprehended by the Dog Operations Unit and is currently being assessed at hospital but is expected to be charged later today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dale Motter-Barnard said “This is a great result of collaborative work between police and the community who quickly contacted triple zero.

“The offenders were apprehended within 3 hours of the initial report, thanks to the quick action of all the units involved.

“We remain dedicated to maintaining public safety and protecting local businesses. Ram raiding will not be tolerated and offenders will be swiftly apprehended.”
