Police Officer Charged in Far North Region, QLD

A 55-year-old male police officer from Far Northern Region has been charged with serious sexual offences.

The senior constable has been charged with four counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault which relate to alleged incidents that occurred whilst off-duty.

It will be further alleged he was known to the victim.

He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on March 21.

He has been suspended from the Queensland Police Service.
