Police rescue two men from submerged boat in Portarlington

The Water Police and Police Airwing rescued two men from a submerged boat in Portarlington this morning.

Investigators were told a fibreglass fishing boat began taking on water approximately one kilometre off the Portarlington foreshore about 1.35am.

Two men onboard activated an Epirb emergency beacon alerting the Airwing to their location as the boat submerged.

A police watercraft rescued the two male occupants and the boat was taken into shore.

A 45-year-old Werribee South man and a 27-year-old Melton South man were not injured in the incident and were transported to hospital for observation.
