Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Mount Isa 15 October

A 75-year-old Gladstone man has died following a single vehicle traffic crash near Mount Isa.

Preliminary investigations indicate around 11:15am a Foton utility towing a caravan was travelling east along the Barkly Highway towards Cloncurry.

The utility was overtaking a road train when it has lost control and left the roadway, crashing into a tree.

The driver and sole occupant of the utility was declared deceased at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
