Police responding to traffic incident at Nerang

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage boy was struck by a vehicle on the Gold Coast tonight.

Shortly before 6pm officers patrolling noticed a group of youths walking along Nerang-Broadbeach Road.

As police pulled up activating their emergency warning lights the group dispersed.

A short time later investigations indicate the 14-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle and thrown onto the median strip as a result of the impact.

This vehicle has failed to stop and left the scene.

The boy was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing for anyone who has information or was travelling along Nerang-Broadbeach Road between 5.45pm and 6pm to contact them.

Anyone with dashcam is asked to contact police.

Investigations continue.
