Police are appealing for public assistance as an investigation is underway following assault in Sydney’s CBD.
On Sunday 5 July 2026, officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports of two people have been assaulted near Central Railway Station.
Police were told about 1am the same day, a 23-year-old man was assaulted by an unknown man.
A 34-year-old woman was also assaulted when she attempted to stop the man.
Police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with detectives looking into whether or not the incident was hate motivated.
As inquiries continue, police have released an image of a man who they believe can assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of medium build, with black hair, depicted wearing a dark blue jumper, black pants and white shoes.
