Police seek information after pursuit at Lake Macquarie

Investigators are appealing for information after a pursuit at Lake Macquarie last night.

About 7.45pm yesterday (Wednesday 7 June 2023), Newcastle Proactive Crime Team Police were patrolling Palmers Road, Freemans Waterhole, when they attempted to stop an SUV for allegedly displaying an altered registration plate.

When the SUV allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated, supported by Raptor North and the Dog Unit.

The pursuit was terminated at Booragul, and an abandoned SUV was located a short time later on Park Parade, Booragul.

The vehicle was seized by Newcastle City Police and will undergo forensic examination.

As inquiries continue to locate the driver of the SUV, police have released a description of a man they believe can assist with their inquiries.

The man is describes as being of Aboriginal appearance, about 35-years-old, of medium build with short black hair. He was wearing a white shirt and shorts at the time of the incident.
