Police seek information over two fires; CCTV vision released in Merrylands

Police are appealing for public assistance as investigations continue into two fires believed to be deliberately lit in Sydney’s west earlier this year.

About 4.30am on Tuesday 28 May 2019, emergency services were called to a home on Baker Street, Merrylands, after reports a residential property under construction and a Suzuki Ignis was well alight.

Fire & Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze – the car was destroyed.

About 4.17am on Thursday 12 September 2019, emergency services were called to the same home on Baker Street, Merrylands, after reports it was on fire.

Fire fighters attended and extinguished the blaze; however, the home sustained significant damage and the home was unoccupied at the time.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command attended and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding both fires.

Police have been told a man was last seen running west along Baker Street carrying a ladder.

Police would like to speak to the man depicted who may be able to assist with inquiries.
