Police seek witnesses – Suspicious vehicle fire in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are investigating a suspicious fire which destroyed a vehicle in the industrial area in Alice Springs yesterday.

At 7am police and fire crews responded to a report of a vehicle fire in a business compound on Smith Street.

The fire, which is being treated as suspicious, was successfully extinguished by fire crews on their arrival.

Constable First Class, Jeremy Cross from Strike Force Viper urged anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious persons or activity in the area between 6:30 and 7am yesterday, to contact police.

“The vehicle was parked inside a secure compound at the time of the fire,” said Cstbl 1/C Cross

“We’re calling for anyone who may have seen any suspicious person or vehicle in the area at the time, to contact police.”

“If anyone has dash cam footage in or around the Smith Street, Lovegrove Drive and Brown Street areas between the times of 6:30am and 7am yesterday (Tuesday 8 June), please contact police.”
