Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses in relation to an assault in Alice Springs overnight.
Around 9:30pm, The Joint Emergency Service Call Centre received reports of an injured 67-year-old male on Gap Road near the corner of Speed Street.
St John Ambulance conveyed the man to Alice Springs Hospital in a serious condition, where it was confirmed that his injuries were consistent with a serious assault.
A crime scene was declared and detectives from the Alice Springs Criminal Investigations Branch are investigating.
Detective Acting Superintendent Mick Schumacher said “At this stage police have limited detail as to how the assault occurred and we are currently collecting and reviewing CCTV in the area.
“We are urging anyone who was in the area at the time of the assault, has any dash cam footage of Gap Rd around 9.30pm or who witnessed any suspicious behaviour, to make contact on 131 444. Please quote reference 10134750.”
