Police are seeking assistance from the public after a 20-year-old Cairns North man has died following a hit and run traffic incident in Cairns this morning.
Cairns Forensic Crash Unit investigators are urging the driver of a white utility that stopped at the accident before driving off to contact them straight away.
Police want anyone who has CCTV footage or witnesses the incident to contact them straight away.
The man was struck by a vehicle on James Street just after midnight.
The man sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision and died at the scene.
Investigators are appealing for the driver of the vehicle or anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact police.
