Police update: Fatal traffic crash in Julago, QLD

Police have charged a man following a fatal traffic crash in Julago yesterday afternoon.

Around 5pm on Sunday, October 31, a Toyota Landcruiser travelling southbound on the Bruce Highway struck a Toyota Corolla then collided with a Mazda 3. The Camry and Mazda 3 were both travelling northbound.

Police and emergency services attended, however the driver of the Mazda 3, a 47-year-old Ayr woman, was declared deceased at the scene. The Mazda 3 passengers, a 30-year-old Ayr woman and two 2-year-old children, a girl and a boy, were transported to Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition. The woman and the 2-year-old boy remain critical.

A 22-year-old Ayr man and 30-year-old Kelso man, the two occupants of the Landcruiser, were transported to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.

The driver of the Camry, a 44-year-old Rasmussen man, was not physically injured in the incident.

The driver of the Landcruiser, a 22-year-old Ayr man, has been issued with a notice to appear charged with dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing death whilst adversely affected. He is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on December 7.

Crash investigators continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have dashcam vision, to contact police, especially any cars travelling behind a blue 2008 Mazda 3.
