Brisbane northsiders are spoilt for choice this weekend for COVID-19 vaccination options.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said the Queensland Government is providing even more opportunities to get vaccinated with pop-up clinics at North Lakes Heath Precinct and Suncorp Stadium.
“Our newest vaccination clinic will open at North Lakes Health Precinct starting from tomorrow (Saturday 2 October). It will be open this Saturday and Sunday with the first jabs available from 8.30am and last walk-ins at 3.50pm,” Minister D’Ath said.
“From next week, the North Lakes Health Precinct vaccination clinic will also be open on Friday evenings from 5pm to 9pm.
“It will open three days a week from Friday to Sunday for at least the next four weeks.
“Anyone aged 12 and over is eligible to walk in without an appointment and get vaccinated.
“Following on from the successful pop-up vaccination clinics at Suncorp Stadium last weekend, we’re also offering a walk-in pop-up vaccination clinic for anyone attending the Grand Final game this Sunday between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Penrith Panthers.
“Vaccinations will be offered at two entry points. The northern site will open from 10.30am to 6pm, and the southern site will open between 4pm to 6pm,” she said.
Member for Bancroft Chris Whiting said the long weekend provided the perfect opportunity for people to get their first or second dose of the vaccine.
“Remember that every person who gets vaccinated is helping to decrease the spread of COVID-19 and protect their local community – so we can continue to do the things we love,” Mr Whiting said.
“This is the perfect opportunity to do your part and tackle COVID-19 head-on.
“Both these vaccination clinics will open with plenty of time for people to get vaccinated and then go on to enjoy whatever their weekend holds.
“Even if you’re got a vaccination booked in a couple of weeks, I encourage you to walk-in to one of our clinics this long weekend – there’s no reason to delay, get vaccinated now.
Minister D’Ath said that there were plenty of options for people to choose from.
“If North Lakes doesn’t suit or you’re not going to the Grand Final, you can also choose to walk into one of the other vaccination locations on Brisbane’s northside, which includes the Brisbane Entertainment Centre at Boondall, Brisbane International Cruise Terminal at Pinkenba and Doomben Racecourse,” said Minister D’Ath.
Anyone getting vaccinated this weekend should bring along photo ID and their Medicare card.
To speed up the vaccination process, anyone planning to get vaccinated ahead of the Grand Final can scan the QR code available on the day at Suncorp Stadium and register their details while they wait.
Minister D’Ath said the Queensland Government was taking every opportunity possible to encourage the state to get vaccinated.
“It’s crucial we get as many Queenslanders as possible vaccinated quickly and safely,” she said.
“We’re seizing every opportunity we can to vaccinate people to reach vaccination targets – establishing pop up vaccination clinics where people work, live and play.”
