The Perth and Peel regions will return to pre-lockdown life from 12.01am Saturday, May 15, following the latest public health advice.
No new community cases have been detected in the Perth and Peel regions since the detection of the last community case on Saturday, May 1.
Pending no further cases, the following restrictions will be eased:
- masks will no longer be mandatory, unless at the airport;
- there will be no capacity limits for weddings and funerals;
- major stadiums including Optus Stadium, RAC Arena, HBF Park and HBF Stadium – main arena can operate at 100 per cent capacity;
- visitor limits for patients in hospital, aged care or disability facilities will be lifted; and
- the 100-person capacity limit for home gatherings removed.
Western Australians are reminded to register their contact details via the SafeWA app or written contact register at businesses and venues where contact registers are mandatory.
The SafeWA app and written contact registers are vital tools for health contact tracers to more efficiently identify people that may have been exposed to the virus, helping reduce the potential of a widespread outbreak.
The transition to pre-lockdown life will be in place for at least one month and the Chief Health Officer will review the situation again before recommending a transition to possibly removing remaining restrictions and adjusting to Phase 5.

“Please remember when heading out to a business or venue – whether it be for a drink at a bar, lunch at a restaurant or for a concert – to register your contact details using the SafeWA app or written contact register.
“We all have a shared responsibility to keep each other safe from COVID-19.”

“The support of everyone to tackle the threat from the virus so quickly was outstanding.
“But can I remind people how important the SafeWA app and contact registers are when a case of community transmission does occur.
“We have a terrific contact tracing team but they are only as good as the information they receive to track and trace.
“Don’t get complacent, use SafeWA, book in for a vaccination when your turn comes and keep practising good personal hygiene.”
