Premier doesn’t know if Section 18 notice staff are involved in implementing CoI recommendations 05 December 2023

It is concerning that state service employees who have had section 18 notices against them may be involved in implementing the recommendations of the inquiry.

How can this be the case? How can there be any cultural change if this is the case?

It was also extraordinary to hear today that even though a list was provided to the government’s lawyer in April 2023 of those who had received section 18 notices, neither the Premier nor the secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet had seen that list or attempted to find out who was on the list.

One of the criticisms of the government by the Commission of Inquiry was the lack of curiosity by people in key leadership roles.

So why hasn’t the Premier informed himself who the 21 employees are who received section 18 notices and ensure they have nothing to do with policy or implementing Commission of Inquiry recommendations?

You can’t possibly rebuild trust, change culture and make systemic change if these people are still involved in policy and implementing the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry.
