Princess Park Off-Leash Dog Park officially open

The Princess Park Off-Leash Dog Park was officially opened today by Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe.

The construction of the dog park was identified as an action in the Princess Park Future Directions Plan, adopted by Council in February 2019. In line with the Future Directions Plan, the new off-leash dog park is located in the bushland north of the Shepparton Runners Club building.

Features of the park include 1.8m high perimeter fencing with separately fenced sections for small and large dogs each with shelter, park furniture seating and agility equipment as well as a dog waste bin and water fountain with dog bowl on site. Solar lighting means the park can also be enjoyed in the evenings and early hours.

The dog park, which received funding from the Victorian Government’s Off-Leash Dog Parks Economic Stimulus Program, will be a valuable asset to the community being a safe and enjoyable space for people to get active with their dogs in a natural bush setting.

Greater Shepparton City Council Acting Director Infrastructure, Tim Zak said it’s fantastic to see residents and their dogs enjoying the park.

“We have already received positive feedback from dog owners who have been visiting the park,” he said.

“We encourage the community to come down and enjoy the space.”
