A competitive tender process is underway to select a licensed private hospital provider to design, build and operate a co-located private hospital at the Peel Health Campus.
The Peel Health Campus private hospital co-location project has commenced detailed planning and will be releasing an early tender advice and invitations for expressions of interest from licensed private hospital providers this month.
An early tender advice is the initial step in the process to provide notification to the private healthcare industry of this opportunity.
After the completion of the expressions of interest process, a shortlisted group of potential providers may be invited to an industry briefing and market engagement sessions next year before a final group is invited to submit a commercial proposal.
The request for proposal is expected to be released in mid-2022.
In addition to the private hospital tender process, the McGowan Government will be transferring full responsibility for the operation of the public hospital to South Metropolitan Health Service from August 2023.
The McGowan Government has committed $152 million to expand and redevelop the public hospital at the Peel Health Campus site.
As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:
“This process offers licensed private healthcare providers with an investment opportunity to establish or expand their private hospital services at an integrated campus alongside a redeveloped public hospital in the growing Peel region.
“The future service delivery model for this major hospital redevelopment will offer residents in the area a greater choice in healthcare options.”
