Progress at COP 28 Ai Group comment

“There have been positive but difficult ongoing discussions at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai (COP28) on progress towards the Paris goals and what needs to be done by all nations next. Developments have included important early agreement on details and cash for a fund to help developing countries with climate-induced loss and damage; and big emerging political declarations on scaling up clean energy, including Australia signing up to triple renewables and double energy efficiency,” Innes Willox, Chief Executive of the national employer association, Ai Group, said today.

“As always, committing is easier than achieving; while we wait to see the negotiated outcome here, we know there is a lot of work to be done at home to get the infrastructure built to keep the lights on and power a clean economy,” Mr Willox said.

Tennant Reed, Ai Group’s Director – Climate Change and Energy, is attending COP 28 as the organisation’s representative.
