Public appeal: Serious traffic crash at Tamborine

Police are appealing for public assistance as part of the investigation into a serious traffic crash at Tamborine on Thursday, October 24.

Investigations indicate that around 3.15pm, a black 2018 Jeep Compass station-wagon was travelling southbound along Waterford Tamborine Road, when it lost control on a left-hand bend and collided head-on with a blue 2014 Hyundai i30 hatchback travelling in the opposite direction.

The 50-year-old Shailer Park woman driving the blue Hyundai sustained a head laceration, internal injuries and numerous broken bones. She had to be freed from her vehicle, before being transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.

A 72-year-old Avondale Heights woman who was a passenger in the blue Hyundai also sustained internal injuries and numerous broken bones. She was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.

The 64-year-old Witheren woman driving the black Jeep sustained a broken pelvis and was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Police are now appealing to critical witnesses who may have seen the collision unfold, but departed the scene prior to police arrival, to come forward. This includes an off-duty doctor who assisted the two victims in the blue Hyundai following the crash.

Police are also appealing to anyone who may have dash-camera footage along Waterford Tamborine Road just prior to the crash, to come forward.

Investigations continue.
