The Queensland Resources Council (QRC) is encouraging all people working in the resources sector to continue their hard work to keep Queensland safe by getting a Covid-19 vaccination as soon as possible.

QRC Chief Executive Ian Macfarlane said Queensland’s resources companies and employees are going to incredible efforts to keep people safe and their sites operating as Queensland continues to navigate its way through the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Our resources sector workers have been rolling up their sleeves right across the state to get the Covid-19 vaccine,” Mr Macfarlane said.

“It’s important that the resources sector continues to do all we can to protect the community against the spread of Covid-19. We encourage everyone working in or with the resources sector who has yet to get the jab to register for a Covid-19 vaccination as soon as you can.

“There are more and more vaccination hubs being set up, including in our important resources regions, and in many locations walk-ins are welcome.”

Mr Macfarlane said vaccines are also available via GPs and pharmacies.

“We thank everyone for the effort they’ve been putting in over the past 18 months. It’s been a difficult time for all Queenslanders and the resources industry has kept operating at a critical time for the economy of Queensland.

“You can count on the resources industry to keep Queensland going – our sector is counting on you to come forward for a vaccine. We are all in this together.”
