- All frontline police now equipped with lifesaving Tactical First Aid Kits after the former Labor Government failed to adequately invest in officer safety during their decade of decline.
- The $5.6 million investment delivers 12,500 kits as part of a broader $147.9 million package of critical police equipment, including Taser 10s, bodyworn cameras and Tyre Deflation Devices.
- The Crisafulli Government is backing frontline police with more resources, more equipment and more police to turn the tide on Labor’s Youth Crime Crisis.
The Crisafulli Government has strengthened protections for Queensland police, with every frontline officer now equipped with a lifesaving Tactical First Aid Kit designed to respond to critical injuries, and help restore safety where you live.
The rollout of the 12,500 kits follows a $5.6 million investment delivered in the Crisafulli Government’s first Budget, ensuring officers across the State have immediate access to trauma equipment capable of saving lives in high-risk incidents.
It’s just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is bolstering the frontline by giving police the resources they need to make Queensland safer and turn the tide on Labor’s Youth Crime Crisis.
Each Tactical First Aid Kit contains a tourniquet, compression bandage, chest seal, shears and an IMIST (Identification, Mechanism of injury, Injuries, Symptoms, Treatment) proforma, used to assist with medical handovers.
The trauma response kits are designed for use in high-risk incidents where life-threatening injuries, including penetrating trauma and severe hemorrhaging, may occur.
Since October 2024, more than 1,800 new officers have joined the Queensland Police Service, taking the Service beyond 13,000 officers for the first time in Queensland’s history.
The Crisafulli Government is turning the tide on Labor’s Youth Crime Crisis, backing police with stronger laws and more boots on the ground which is already delivering early results with a 7.2 per cent drop in the number of victims of crime in Queensland in 2025, compared to the previous year.
The former Labor Government’s weak laws during their decade of decline created Queensland’s Youth Crime Crisis and a generation of serious repeat offenders that caused a 193 per cent increase in the number of victims of crime.
Treasurer, Minster for Energy and Minister for Home Ownership David Janetzki said investing in our frontline officers was an investment in the safety and wellbeing of all Queenslanders.
“This funding is about preparedness and making sure our police have the equipment they need before they need it. It is a practical investment that supports faster responses, safer officers and safer communities,” Treasurer Janetzki said.
“Every dollar invested in the capability and safety of our frontline workforce strengthens the services Queenslanders rely on.”
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie said the Crisafulli Government was delivering for frontline police by backing them with the resources they need to make Queensland safer.
“Every day, Queensland police put themselves in harm’s way to protect our communities, and they deserve access to the very best equipment available,” Minister Purdie said.
“These lifesaving kits are part of the Crisafulli Government’s $147.9 million investment in critical police equipment after the former Labor government failed to adequately invest in the safety of our hardworking frontline who put their own lives at risk to restore safety where you live.
“Not only are we giving our police the resources they need after Labor’s decade of decline – we are delivering more police than ever before as we continue to drive down the number of victims in Queensland which surged by 193 per cent under the former Labor Government.”
Queensland Police Deputy Commissioner Mark Kelly said expanding access to Tactical First Aid Kits across the Service represents an uplift in officer safety and operational capability.
“The safety of our officers and the communities we serve remains our highest priority,” Deputy Commissioner Kelly said.
“While we hope our officers never have to use them, these Tactical First Aid Kits are designed for high-risk incidents where life-threatening injuries occur.
“Ensuring officers have access to a Tactical First Aid Kit is an investment in their safety, their ability to save lives, and their capacity to protect the public in critical situations.”
