Queenslanders to have their say on the future of women and girls’ health

JOINT STATEMENT
  • Palaszczuk Government’s draft Queensland Women and Girls’ Health Strategy is now open for consultation
  • The Strategy will be critical for improving women and girls’ health over the next decade
  • Queenslanders can have their say until 19 October 2023

The Palaszczuk Government is asking Queenslanders to have their say to ensure all women and girls can be healthy and thrive in social, economic, and cultural activities.

Public consultation is now open on the draft Queensland Women and Girls’ Health Strategy and Queenslanders can participate through a short survey.

The Strategy is being developed by Queensland Health in consultation with women and girls in the community, as well as government agencies and other organisations.

Genuine co-design and partnership will deliver real change and extensive consultation is critical to ensure the voices of women and girls living in Queensland are at the heart of the Strategy.

Many women and girls have already shared their experiences and suggestions on how to improve the health of women and girls which has been reflected in the draft Strategy and this next stage seeks the views of a broader cross-section of Queenslanders.

The survey also provides an opportunity to share experiences with our health system which will help to further understand the key issues.

All responses will be considered to ensure the new Strategy responds directly to the voices of Queenslanders and to improve the health of women and girls.

The Queensland Women and Girls’ Health Strategy is a commitment under the Queensland Women’s Strategy 2022-27 and will take a whole-of-government approach to health and wellbeing by considering the social determinants of health and the roles that other Queensland Government agencies play in supporting the health of women and girls.

The survey and public consultation draft of the Strategy can be accessed online.

Information on some of the key issues are also available on the website.
