Rail trespass charge at Parramatta, NSW

A man is due to appear in court charged in relation to an incident which created major public transport delays in western Sydney yesterday.

Several lines were impacted about 4pm (Monday 10 May 2021), after a man was seen in the train corridor between Westmead and Parramatta.

Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command responded and, a short time later, a man was reported to be on a railway overpass over O’Connell Street.

Specialist officers – including police negotiators – were called to the scene and, at 7.15pm, the man was taken into custody without further incident.

He was taken for assessment before being released this morning, when he was arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station.

The 47-year-old man has now been charged with go on or into or remain on or in running lines.

He is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Tuesday 11 May 2021).
