Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding a ram raid at a hot pot store in Footscray this morning.
Emergency services were called following reports a vehicle had crashed into the Leeds Street store about 2.50am.
It appears the offenders tried to set the shop alight however it failed to take hold and caused smoke damage.
The offenders fled the scene dumping the stolen 2009 black Toyota Prado in the middle of the road.
Detectives will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and whether it is linked to any other recent fires.
