Reappeal to locate missing Western Sydney man

Police are reappealing for public assistance to locate a man missing in the Greater Western Sydney area.

John Farthing, aged 68, was last seen on Pitt Street, Merrylands, about 11:30am Wednesday 31 January 2024.

When he couldn’t be contacted or located, officers from Cumberland Police Area Command were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Police hold great concerns for John’s welfare as he lives with dementia, along with other medical conditions that require treatment.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, of a medium build, with brown hair, blue/grey eyes and a grey beard.

Following extensive inquiries, police have reason to believe John was in the Parramatta area earlier today (Saturday 3 February 2024).

John was seen wearing a plaid shirt and grey t-shirt, khaki pants, socks, and sandals.

He is known to use the public transport system and frequents the Parramatta and Fairfield areas.
