Reconciliation Week 2022

City of Port Phillip
This Reconciliation Week, City of Port Phillip is presenting a week of activities for us to come together and inspire each other to be brave to make change.

National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

This year’s theme is ‘Be Brave. Make Change’, so we’re presenting a week of activities for us to come together and inspire each other to be brave to make change.

Mark National Sorry Day on 26 May with the Port Phillip Citizens for Reconciliation at South Melbourne Community Centre.

From 27 May, we’re featuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander short films across 7 nights at St Kilda Film Festival, with films including Finding Jedda, Nest, Beautiful: They, Mourning Country, Bunker: The Last Fleet, Tooly, One Night the Moon, Forming Warwick Thornton at Astor Theatre in St Kilda. Join us for a special event on 5 June for a screening of One Night the Moon and an In Conversation event with distinguished screen legend, Kelton Pell. For screening session information and buy tickets, visit https://www.stkildafilmfestival.com.au/.

Come down to the St Kilda Esplanade Markets on 29 May for an evening celebrating the Sounds and Tastes of Torres Strait, featuring food by Mabu Mabu and music by John Wayne Parsons.

An installation dedicated to Reconciliation Week will feature in the public facing display cases in Carlisle Street during the week.
