South Australian economy is set for an up to $5.7 billion boost with around 1,300 jobs being created as a result of important infrastructure projects across South Australia.
Analysis of some of South Australia’s top infrastructure projects either underway or soon to commence shows the that up to $5.7 billion in economic benefit and almost 1,300 jobs are being created from 18 projects worth $1.68 billion.
Some key infrastructure projects include;
- The $354 million Regency to Pym Street project, generating up to $1.5 billion in economic benefit and creating 210 jobs;
- The $322 million Port Wakefield and Joy Baluch upgrade projects, generating up to $1.2 billion in economic benefit and creating 209 jobs;
- The $98 million Portrush/Magill Intersection upgrade, generating up to $900 million in economic benefit and creating 78 jobs; and,
- The $13 million Main North/McIntyre/Kings Road upgrade, generating up to $240 million in economic benefit and creating 16 jobs.
“The Marshall Government’s record $12.9 billion pipeline of infrastructure works is boosting our economy and creating thousands of jobs,” said Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Local Government Stephan Knoll.
“Over the next four years, more infrastructure will be built in South Australia than any other four-year period in our state’s history.
“Infrastructure projects have huge economic benefits for the state, the economy and local jobs.
“We know that from just 18 projects under construction or soon to be underway, we will generate up to $5.7 billion in economic benefit and create almost 1,300 jobs.
“On top of that we are spending record amounts to fix over 1,000 kilometres of country roads over the next four years that will improve safety, help save lives and create more jobs.
“We also have the recently announced $144.5 million infrastructure stimulus as part of our response to deal with the impact of COVID which will create around 213 jobs.
“Many of these projects, like the Port Wakefield Overpass and joy Baluch Bridge duplication projects, provide a massive boost to freight productivity and benefit the transport industry.
“Many other projects help to improve road safety, bust congestion and reduce travel times for all South Australians using these roads.
“This means people will spend less time in traffic and have a faster and safer journey to and from work, home or wherever they may be going.”
