  • Training hub offers both practical and online learning, providing staff and students with a suitable environment to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • The project was supported by a $100,000 grant from the Cook Government’s Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program

Regional Development Minister Don Punch has officially opened Coolibah Care’s training hub in Mandurah today, a contemporary facility designed to enhance the skills of staff and students in the aged care industry.

Coolibah Care has redeveloped its existing training space into a modern hub, facilitating both practical and online learning and providing staff and students with a suitable and positive learning environment to enhance their skills and knowledge.

The training hub is anticipated to service Coolibah’s 240 staff, Registered Nursing students from Murdoch University and students from registered training organisation Skills Strategies International Mandurah.

Established in 1969, Coolibah Care is a not-for-profit independent aged care provider operating in the Mandurah area and servicing the Peel region.

The project was supported by a $100,000 Regional Economic Development (RED) Grant.

As stated by Regional Development Minister Don Punch:

“The launch of Coolibah Care’s redeveloped training hub marks a significant step in addressing staff and student educational needs and enhancing specialised care skills within a modern training facility.

“With increased service demands and workforce challenges in the aged care sector, especially in the Mandurah area, providers can benefit from offering enhanced employment benefits and well-equipped training facilities to attract and retain staff.

“RED Grants empower local businesses by driving innovation, expanding operations, and creating jobs, with this project an excellent example of how such grants contribute to building the capacity of our regional workforce.”

As stated by Dawesville MLA Lisa Munday:

“I am pleased to be here today to celebrate the official opening of Coolibah Care’s newly refurbished training hub in Mandurah.

“This modernised facility will make a real difference in our community and enable the region to build its capacity in the aged care sector.

“This project is a prime example of how RED Grants support innovative and meaningful initiatives at a grass roots level, offering a tailored training solution right here in the Peel region.”
