Baw Baw Shire Council has begun refurbishment works on the public toilets located on Palmerston Street, Warragul.
The much-needed project is more than just a face-lift and will address accessibility concerns, as well as replacing timber walls and existing partitions.
The project will brighten up the well-used facilities, and also include:
- Replacing existing wall tiles.
- Installing new LED lighting.
- Removing the existing heavy metal doors.
- Replacing cisterns and upgrading the existing fittings.
- Repainting and cleaning of the building’s exterior.
The works schedule has been planned to minimise disruptions to the public and is programmed to be completed in the following stages, weather permitting:
- Parents room: 25 April – 8 May.
- Accessible toilets: 9 May – 27 May.
- Female toilets: 30 May – 17 June.
- Male toilets: 20 June – 6 July.
Council’s Early Years Advisory Committee helped shape the project scope, which also incorporated feedback received about the facilities from community members, ensuring the finished product meets community expectations.
The $135,000 project is part of Council’s Toilet Refurbishment Program and overall Capital Works Program that will see a $38.7 million investment in community infrastructure during the 2021/22 financial year.
